Along the Great Masurian Lakes Trail there are around 170 places where you can moor: from large harbours with full facilities to small jetties by lakeside taverns. For a charter crew, choosing a harbour is a daily decision of the cruise: where to eat, where to spend the night safely, where to top up water and power. Big harbour, small marina or a wild bay
The big harbours in Giżycko, Mikołajki, Ryn or Sztynort give you a guaranteed spot in bad weather, showers, shore power and restaurants within walking distance. The price is cost and crowds: in peak season, finding a place at the quay after 4 p.m. gets hard. Smaller marinas and jetties by campsites are cheaper and quieter, but facilities can be limited to a toilet and a rubbish bin. The third option is a wild night in a bay, at anchor or tied to a tree: free and closest to nature, just with no shore power and a swim instead of a shower.

What mooring costs
Harbour fees in Masuria depend on the harbour, the boat's length and the season: as a rule of thumb, a night in most harbours costs a few dozen zlotys, most often in the 40-80 PLN range. Power, water, showers and slipway use are often billed separately. These are market ranges, not any marina's price list: every harbour has its own tariff, and bigger boats pay more.
In practice it looks like this: after mooring you report to the harbour office, state your boat's length and the number of nights, and pay, increasingly often cashless. In season it is still worth carrying some cash: at smaller jetties and taverns a card terminal is not yet the norm.
Budget your harbour money upfront: a week-long cruise with 3-4 harbour nights usually comes to 150-350 PLN, depending on the harbours and the boat. The remaining nights you sleep in bays for free.
Harbours and weather: where to hide when the wind picks up
Masurian weather changes fast, and the open waters of Śniardwy and Niegocin get demanding in strong wind. The rule is simple: with a forecast above 5-6 Beaufort, choose sheltered harbours with solid jetties and be in port earlier than usual.
