Gorki Zachodnie is the most common jumping-off base for sea charters, because from here it is a short hop onto the open gulf. Gdansk and Sopot, in turn, are the most touristy, with a trip starting practically from the centre.

The Gulf of Gdansk rewards short, scenic trips between the cities. The most popular directions are:
- Gdansk to Sopot - to the famous pier and the marina at its end, a good half-day trip,
- Gdansk to Gdynia - along the whole Tricity, with a view of the Dar Pomorza and the port,
- to the Hel Peninsula - to Hel, Jastarnia or Kuznica, with a lighthouse and a seal sanctuary.
These waters are a step harder than the lakes, because you add waves, sea wind and the rules of maritime traffic, but they are still sheltered and well marked. The season on the gulf runs roughly from June to September, peaking in July and August. Off-peak it is calmer and cheaper, though the weather is more changeable.
